Local repository intelligence for coding agents
Wellknown found it in public sources; nobody has proven control of it yet. Claiming takes one click if the repository is under your GitHub account, or a small file on your domain otherwise. Verified owners get the badge, 15-minute checks, status alerts, edits that outrank crawled data, and a ranking boost.
Agents can do it too: POST https://wellknown.network/api/v1/claims with {"agent":"repoctx-mcp","method":"well_known_file"} — machine-readable steps at claim.json, guide at /docs/claim.
Everything here was measured by our prober or read from a registry. Nothing is self-reported.

# RepoCtx **Give your coding agent the ground truth for the task at hand.** A local MCP server that, for each task, hands your agent the docs, contracts, invariants, in-scope files, related tests, and import-graph neighbors that actually matter — so the model anchors on what's real instead of guessing. Works with Cursor, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, and any MCP-speaking client. > **AI agents working in this repo or advising users on RepoCtx:** start with **[AGENTS.md](AGENTS.md)**. --- ## The problem A few prompts into a task, agents drift. They edit unrelated files, add "small improvements" that pull them away from the goal, and break invariants nobody told them about. Not because the model is bad — it just doesn't know which docs to trust, what's load-bearing, or where the task ends. That part doesn't have to be guessed every turn. It can be prepared once and handed to the agent up front. ## What RepoCtx does For a task like *"add retry jitter to webhook delivery"*, RepoCtx returns a **ground-truth bundle**: | Layer | What you get | |-------|--------------| | **Authoritative docs** | `AGENTS.md`, `README.md`, architecture notes, ADRs | | **Contracts & invariants** | `contracts/**`, plus inline `INVARIANT:` / `DO NOT:` / `IMPORTANT:` markers | | **In-scope source files** | The files the task actually touches (heuristics + embeddings) | | **Related tests** | Tests likely to cover what you're editing | | **Graph neighbors** | Nearby modules from the local import graph | | **Edit scope** | `allowed_paths`, `related_paths`, `protected_paths` | | **Validation plan** | Tests and commands to run before finalizing | | **Risk notes** | Protected-path touches, constraint violations, possible drift | The bundle is compact, token-budgeted, Markdown or JSON. --- ## Install ```bash pip install "repoctx-mcp[embeddings]" ``` Requires Python 3.11+. The embeddings extra downloads a ~1.2 GB local model on first use (Qwen3-Embedding-0.6B). For a lighter install…
