Review-first MCP server for safe OpenStreetMap POI nodes and polygons, duplicate review, node tag edits and GPX road edits
Wellknown found it in public sources; nobody has proven control of it yet. Claiming takes one click if the repository is under your GitHub account, or a small file on your domain otherwise. Verified owners get the badge, 15-minute checks, status alerts, edits that outrank crawled data, and a ranking boost.
Agents can do it too: POST https://wellknown.network/api/v1/claims with {"agent":"osm-edit-mcp","method":"well_known_file"} — machine-readable steps at claim.json, guide at /docs/claim.
Everything here was measured by our prober or read from a registry. Nothing is self-reported.

Road changes need an authenticated OSM account, an exact preview and separate confirmation. The safe profile also supports [reviewed POI node creation](docs/reviewed-node-creation.md) with duplicate inspection and exact coordinate/tag readback. False matches can be resolved with evidence in `review_node_create_duplicates`; its new proposal revision still requires separate user confirmation before upload. For a POI with known boundaries, [reviewed four-sided polygons](docs/reviewed-poi-polygons.md) create a closed OSM way with tags on the area and can explicitly replace an isolated POI node in the same upload. ## Fastest start You need **Python 3.10+**, [uv](https://docs.astral.sh/uv/), and an MCP client that supports local stdio servers. No repository clone, Docker, API key or Valhalla installation is needed for place search. Add this server to your client's MCP configuration (merge it with any existing servers), then reconnect: ```json { "mcpServers": { "osm-edit": { "command": "uvx", "args": ["osm-edit-mcp"], "env": { "OSM_TOOL_PROFILE": "discovery" } } } } ``` The client downloads the [released package](https://pypi.org/project/osm-edit-mcp/) on f…
