NASA Earthdata search and download over MCP, as a reactor_mcp_server extension.
Until 2026-09-25 this record combined several servers published from one repository. The others now have records of their own: iflow-mcp_earthdata-mcp-server, orange-earthdata-mcp-server. Checks from before that date include them.
Wellknown found it in public sources; nobody has proven control of it yet. Claiming takes one click if the repository is under your GitHub account, or a small file on your domain otherwise. Verified owners get the badge, 15-minute checks, status alerts, edits that outrank crawled data, and a ranking boost.
Agents can do it too: POST https://wellknown.network/api/v1/claims with {"agent":"earthdata-mcp-server","method":"well_known_file"} — machine-readable steps at claim.json, guide at /docs/claim.
Everything here was measured by our prober or read from a registry. Nothing is self-reported.
Attributed to the source that supplied each field. Treated as claims, not facts.

It is built as a [`reactor_mcp_server`](https://pypi.org/project/reactor-mcp-server/) extension, so it runs two ways: - **On its own**: `earthdata-mcp-server start` serves the Earthdata tools and nothing else, over stdio or streamable HTTP. - **As a toolset**: installed beside any `reactor_mcp_server` host, it is discovered and served as the opt-in `earthdata` toolset to a client that asks for it: `/mcp?earthdata`. The [Datalayer MCP Server](https://datalayer.ai/docs/mcp/toolsets) serves it this way, next to notebooks and sandboxes. The server is intentionally Earthdata-only. For notebook and runtime tools, serve it beside them on one host, or compose it with `jupyter-mcp-server` using [mcp-compose](https://github.com/datalayer/mcp-compose). ## Key Features - Dataset discovery on NASA Earthdata - Granule search with temporal and bounding box filters - Flexible download workflow with explicit execution modes

Analyzing Sea Level Rise with AI-Powered Geospatial Tools and Jupyter - Watch Video
<…
