### Description (declared)

# Smriti MCP Server

> **Model Context Protocol server for Smriti — Temporal AI Memory**
>
> Give any MCP-compatible AI host (Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf) structured temporal memory powered by S-V-O causal event tuples.

## Quick Start

### 1. Clone the repo & install dependencies

```bash
git clone https://github.com/RemanenetSpy/smriti.git
cd smriti
pip install -r mcp/requirements.txt
```

### 2. Set your API key

```bash
# Get a free API key at: https://smriti-kaal.vercel.app
export SMRITI_API_KEY="chrn_your_api_key_here"
```

### 3. Add to your MCP host

**Claude Desktop** — Edit `claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "smriti": {
      "command": "python",
      "args": ["-m", "smriti.mcp"],
      "cwd": "C:/path/to/smriti",
      "env": {
        "SMRITI_API_KEY": "chrn_your_api_key_here"
      }
    }
  }
}
```
> Replace `C:/path/to/smriti` with the absolute path to the folder where you cloned the repo (e.g. `C:/Users/yourname/smriti`).

**Cursor** — Edit `.cursor/mcp.json` in your project root:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "smriti": {
      "command": "python",
      "args": ["-m", "smriti.mcp"],
      "cwd": "C:/path/to/smriti",
      "env": {
        "SMRITI_API_KEY": "chrn_your_api_key_here",
        "SMRITI_SOURCE_ID": "my-project"
      }
    }
  }
}
```
> Replace `C:/path/to/smriti` with the absolute path to the folder where you cloned the repo (e.g. `C:/Users/yourname/smriti`).

### 4. Test with MCP Inspector

```bash
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector python -m smriti.mcp
```

## Tools

| Tool | Purpose | Key Args |
|------|---------|----------|
| `smriti_remember` | Store new memories (text → S-V-O extraction) | `text`, `source_id`, `scope`, `timestamp` |
| `smriti_recall` | Search memories (semantic + temporal + entity) | `query`, `max_results`, `time_range_start/end` |
| `smriti_timeline` | Chronological event timeline | `time…
