This causes:\n\n- **File conflicts** — two sessions editing the same file\n- **Duplicated work** — agents picking up the same task\n- **Wasted context** — no way to know what another session is doing\n\n**mcp-session-registry** solves this with a shared presence layer:\n\n- Sessions register on spawn, declare a theme, and heartbeat every 2-3 minutes\n- Sessions claim files/resources — other sessions see the claim before touching them\n- Stale sessions (no heartbeat >5min) are automatically reaped\n- Everything persists in SQLite — survives individual session crashes\n\n## Quick Start\n\n```bash\n# Run directly\nuvx mcp-session-registry\n\n# Or install\npip install mcp-session-registry\n\n# Configure port (default: 8000)\nMSR_PORT=3203 mcp-session-registry\n```\n\n## MCP Tools\n\n| Tool | Description |\n|------|-------------|\n| `session_register` | Register a new session. Returns `session_id` for subsequent calls. |\n| `session_list` | List all active sessions on this machine. |\n| `session_heartbeat` | Send heartbeat to keep session alive (call every 2-3 min). |\n| `session_end` | Gracefully end a session and release all its claims. |\n| `session_claim` | Claim a resource (file, branch, work item).
