It\nsupports managing and inspecting collections and documents, and searching for\nrelevant knowledge chunks.\n\n## Features\n\n- Add a document to a knowledge base collection by URL\n- Get document information and processing status\n- List documents with cursor pagination\n- Get collection information and build status\n- List collections in the configured project\n- Search a collection with optional document filtering\n- Authenticate with either a Viking API key or VolcEngine AK/SK credentials\n- Run over stdio or stateless Streamable HTTP\n\n## Prerequisites\n\n- Python 3.10 or later\n- A Viking Knowledge Base API key, or VolcEngine AK/SK credentials\n\n## Installation\n\nInstall from PyPI:\n\n```bash\npip install mcp-server-knowledgebase\n```\n\nOr install it as a persistent command-line tool with `uv`:\n\n```bash\nuv tool install mcp-server-knowledgebase\n```\n\nFor local development, clone the repository and install this package in\neditable mode:\n\n```bash\ngit clone https://github.com/volcengine/mcp-server.git\ncd mcp-server/server/mcp_server_knowledgebase\nuv pip install -e .\n```\n\n## Configuration\n\n### Authentication\n\nConfigure at least one authentication method:\n\n- API key: set `VIKING_API_KEY`. Requests use\n  `Authorization: Bearer <VIKING_API_KEY>`.\n- AK/SK: set both `VOLCENGINE_ACCESS_KEY` and\n  `VOLCENGINE_SECRET_KEY`. Requests use VolcEngine SignerV4 authentication.\n\nWhen both methods are configured, `VIKING_API_KEY` takes precedence.
