It is designed for local testing, demos, and resilience experiments where you want a predictable MCP endpoint without depending on a real backend.\n\nThe current codebase includes:\n\n- a `MockMCPServer` implementation for registering tools and serving responses\n- a synthetic response generator powered by Faker\n- a chaos layer for latency and injected failures\n- a CLI entry point for running a mock server from a schema file\n- a pytest suite covering the core behaviors\n\n## Project layout\n\n```text\nmcp-mock/\n├── pyproject.toml\n├── README.md\n├── LICENSE\n├── src/\n│   └── mcp_mock/\n│       ├── __init__.py\n│       ├── chaos.py\n│       ├── cli.py\n│       ├── generator.py\n│       └── server.py\n└── tests/\n    ├── test_chaos.py\n    ├── test_cli.py\n    ├── test_generator.py\n    └── test_server.py\n```\n\n## Installation\n\nInstall the package from the project root:\n\n```bash\npython -m pip install -e .\n```\n\nInstall development dependencies as well:\n\n```bash\npython -m pip install -e \".[dev]\"\n```\n\n## Usage\n\nmcp-mock is most useful when you want a predictable MCP server for local development, test automation, or demos. You can either run it from the command line with a schema file or create a server directly in Python.\n\n### CLI usage\n\nThe CLI entry point is `mcp-mock serve`. It reads a JSON file that describes the tools you want to expose and starts a mock MCP server over stdio.\n\nRun a server from a schema file:\n\n```bash\nmcp-mock serve --schema ./tools_schema.json\n```\n\nAdd simulated latency and failure injection:\n\n```bash\nmcp-mock serve --schema ./tools_schema.json --latency 100 --error-rate 0.1\n```\n\n#### CLI options\n\n- `--schema` or `-s`: required path to a JSON schema file\n- `--latency`: adds a delay in milliseconds before each tool response\n- `--error-rate`: injects failures probabilistically, from `0.0` to `1.0`\n\n### Python API usage\n\nYou can also create a server programmatically in Python.…","publisher":{"name":"Naveen Kumar","url":null},"homepage":null,"repository":null,"version":"1.0.1","license":"MIT","protocols":["mcp"],"tags":["mcp"],"pricing":null,"endpoints":[{"url":"pypi:mcp-mock","type":"package_pypi","auth":null,"probeable":false}],"skills":null,"tools":null,"extra":null,"attribution":{"kind":"pypi","name":"pypi","license":"pypi","summary":"pypi","version":"pypi","description":"pypi","publisherName":"pypi"}},"derived":{"capabilities":[{"slug":"dev.package-management","name":"Packages & Dependencies","confidence":0.859,"provenance":"derived"},{"slug":"dev.terminal","name":"Terminal & Shell","confidence":0.825,"provenance":"derived"}],"categories":["dev"],"language":"en"},"observed":{"status":"unknown","statusReason":"Distributed as a package to run locally; no network endpoint to check.","lastOkAt":null,"lastProbedAt":null,"statusComputedAt":null,"reliability30d":null,"latestObservations":[],"tools":null,"package":{"name":"mcp-mock","registry":"pypi","observedAt":"2026-10-28T12:22:49.772Z","publishedAt":"2026-08-04T12:23:40.046792Z","latestVersion":"1.0.1"},"toolSurface":null,"endpointFacts":[]},"verification":{"claimed":false,"claimedAt":null,"proofs":[]},"provenance":{"sources":[{"source":"pypi","key":"mcp-mock","url":"https://pypi.org/project/mcp-mock/","firstSeenAt":"2026-09-10T02:23:53.701Z","fetchedAt":"2026-10-28T12:21:03.178Z","normalizedAt":"2026-10-28T12:21:03.178Z"}]},"firstSeenAt":"2026-09-10T02:23:53.701Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-28T12:22:49.772Z"}
