## Licensing and scope

Every tool this server registers works on a **Basic** (free) Kibana license, and
that is the boundary: functionality that needs a paid Elastic subscription is out
of scope and stays out. Kibana's own per-type gates still apply to the values you
pass — a Gold+ connector type stays Gold+.

The corollary is deliberate. Kibana ships its own MCP server as part of
[Agent Builder](https://www.elastic.co/docs/explore-analyze/ai-features/agent-builder/mcp-server),
whose APIs [require an Enterprise subscription](https://www.elastic.co/subscriptions).
