The server itself is a **signed, notarized macOS app**; the wheel\ncarries that bundle and installs it to `~/Applications` on first run, then hands off to the\n`MacControlRelay` binary inside it. Later releases replace the installed app automatically, so\n`uvx` upgrades keep the app in step with the wrapper.\n\n## Install\n\n```sh\nuvx drews-mac-control-mcp --setup\n```\n\nThat installs the app, opens it so macOS prompts for permissions, and prints the client\nregistration command.\n\nTwo approvals are needed, and both are easy to miss:\n\n1. **A new background item.** Registering the host creates a login item, and macOS asks about it.\n   Dismissing that prompt leaves the agent unapproved, so the host never starts and every tool call\n   fails with nothing to explain why. If you dismissed it, enable **MacControlMCP** under\n   System Settings ▸ General ▸ Login Items & Extensions.\n2. **Accessibility** — and **Screen Recording** if you want screenshots — in\n   System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.\n\nThen register **this wrapper** as the MCP server command:\n\n```sh\nclaude mcp add --scope user maccontrol -- \"$(command -v uvx)\" drews-mac-control-mcp\ncodex  mcp add maccontrol -- \"$(command -v uvx)\" drews-mac-control-mcp\n```\n\nThat is what keeps it current. On every launch the wrapper checks the app installed in\n`~/Applications` against the version this wheel carries and replaces it if they differ. `uvx`\nsupplies the other half: it caches PyPI's index for the ten minutes PyPI asks for and re-resolves\nonce that lapses, so a new release arrives on its own — within minutes, not necessarily on the very\nnext call. `uvx --refresh drews-mac-control-mcp` forces it immediately.\n\nPointing a client straight at `~/Applications/Ma…","publisher":null,"homepage":"https://github.com/drewster99/drews-mac-control-mcp","repository":"https://github.com/drewster99/drews-mac-control-mcp","version":"0.2.51","license":"Apache-2.0","protocols":["mcp"],"tags":["mcp","model-context-protocol","macos","accessibility","automation","ios-simulator"],"pricing":null,"endpoints":[{"url":"pypi:drews-mac-control-mcp","type":"package_pypi","auth":null,"probeable":false}],"skills":null,"tools":null,"extra":null,"attribution":{"kind":"pypi","name":"pypi","license":"pypi","repoUrl":"pypi","summary":"pypi","version":"pypi","description":"pypi","homepageUrl":"pypi"}},"derived":{"capabilities":[{"slug":"ai.prompting","name":"Prompt Management","confidence":0.791,"provenance":"derived"},{"slug":"dev.package-management","name":"Packages & Dependencies","confidence":0.768,"provenance":"derived"}],"categories":["ai","dev"],"language":"en"},"observed":{"status":"unknown","statusReason":"Distributed as a package to run locally; no network endpoint to check.","lastOkAt":null,"lastProbedAt":null,"statusComputedAt":null,"reliability30d":null,"latestObservations":[],"tools":null,"package":{"name":"drews-mac-control-mcp","registry":"pypi","observedAt":"2026-09-15T13:22:06.439Z","publishedAt":"2026-08-30T20:45:47.158696Z","latestVersion":"0.2.51"},"toolSurface":null,"endpointFacts":[]},"verification":{"claimed":false,"claimedAt":null,"proofs":[]},"provenance":{"sources":[{"source":"pypi","key":"drews-mac-control-mcp","url":"https://pypi.org/project/drews-mac-control-mcp/","firstSeenAt":"2026-09-09T14:32:20.801Z","fetchedAt":"2026-09-15T13:20:57.424Z","normalizedAt":"2026-09-15T13:20:57.424Z"}]},"firstSeenAt":"2026-09-09T14:32:20.801Z","updatedAt":"2026-09-15T13:22:06.439Z"}
